EMDR Sussex - workshops and training

EMDR Sussex presents a workshop by Dr Naomi Fisher

Telling New Stories: Children, Neurodiversity and Story-Telling in EMDR

21st January, 2023, 9.30am - 4pm

The Brighthelm Centre, North Road, Brighton.

Tickets available from Eventbrite

Neurodiversity is the idea that everyone is different, and that these differences do not have to be seen as disorders. This day is about how to incorporate this perspective into your EMDR with children and young people.

Naomi will start by explaining the neurodiversity paradigm and what it implies for us as therapists.  In a practical, clinical skills-focused session Naomi will introduce a new formulation tool to help you think differently about the children and young people you see.  She’ll then show you how to use EMDR story-telling with children, a methodology which can be particularly appropriate when working with neurodiversity. You’ll leave with a new way to understand and work with neurodiversity, as well as practical skills in EMDR formulation and story-telling.

This day is appropriate for any EMDR-trained therapist who works with children and young people.

Naomi is a Clinical Psychologist and EMDR Consultant/Facilitator, working independently with children, adolescents and adults in Brighton and Hove.  She has been using EMDR since 2005 and has worked in the NHS in primary care and specialist trauma services.  She has a long standing professional and personal interest in autism, and completed a PHD focusing on autism before her clinical training.

Cost: £50 (members of EMDR Association), £75 (non-members)

A vegetarian/vegan lunch will be provided.

6 CPD points awarded.
